To declutter every year is a waste of money, that’s for sure. But did you know that it is also a big source of stress, depression, and anxiety?
Every year, we’ve been decluttering in January, so last year we’ve decided to make sure, that we never need to declutter again. And it worked quite well.
So, today instead of our decluttering chart like the last years, we are going to share our four simple rules so that you never have to declutter again.

No more Declutter – 4 Simple Rules To Avoid Clutter
1. One In, One Out
Don’t clutter in the first place. For every new item you bring into your home, one item must go out. If you buy a new shirt, you need to donate or sell an old one. Try to convince your child to follow this rule. That will not only save space but also money. It’s as simple as that.
2. A Place for Everything
Make sure that everything you have has a specific spot where it belongs. Nothing harder than that when you have kids. But try to instill it as a habit. This makes it easier to put things away and to find them when needed. If something doesn’t have a place, it’s definitely a sign you have too much of it or it’s not needed.
3. Be Mindful of Purchases
Before buying something new, ask yourself if it’s truly necessary, if you have space for it, and if it will add value to your life. This mindfulness reduces impulsive buying and clutter accumulation. Try to teach your child to do the same.
4. Put it Back instead of Declutter
When you see something out of place, put it back where it belongs immediately. Teach your kids to do the same. It took me months, months to follow trough, but it worked. Took some gentle sounds of me, but at the end, now everyone at home knows where things belong. The moment you finish using an item, return it to its spot. This habit prevents clutter from ever forming.
If you open mail, deal with it right away; if you take off your coat, hang it up immediately.
And that’s it! Follow these rules and don’t give the chance to the clutter to accumulate!
Happy Living!
