Use high-quality ingredients

First and foremost, opt for high-quality ingredients.

Chocolate

We use organic 85% dark chocolate. Dark chocolate is rich in antioxidants like flavonoids, which have been associated with potential health benefits, including improved heart health and reduced inflammation. Choosing organic chocolate ensures it’s free from potentially harmful pesticides.

Peanut Butter

Also, the choice of peanut butter is crucial. Opt for organic peanut butter made from just peanuts or peanuts and salt, without added sugars or unhealthy hydrogenated oils. Organic peanut butter provides healthy fats, protein, and essential vitamins and minerals. It’s also a source of monounsaturated fats, which can contribute to heart health.

Our secret ingredient

Enhancing the flavor and nutritional profile of peanut butter cups with organic orange or lemon zest is a brilliant idea that our grand-grand mom had back then in the olden days when the food was natural and almost everything homemade.

Orange and lemon zest contain essential oils, vitamins, and minerals that can elevate the taste and nutritional value of the treat. These citrus fruits are rich in vitamin C, which supports immune function and skin health, as well as dietary fiber that aids digestion. Moreover, orange and lemon zest are abundant in flavonoids and other phytochemicals with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. These compounds may promote cardiovascular health and reduce the risk of chronic diseases.

Moderation

But let us not forget, that while peanut butter cups made with these ingredients are much better than the artificial ingredient ones, moderation is key. Our healthy recipe offers some health benefits. However, even with high-quality ingredients, they are calorie-dense and should be enjoyed as an occasional treat rather than a daily indulgence, especially by kids.
